Author Reading: George Mercer at Vancouver Island Market

Guest Blogger and Author George Mercer

As a self-published author writing the first fiction series about Canada’s national parks titled Dyed In The Green, I love going to markets where I can speak with readers not only about each of the parks featured in my novels, but their favourite parks and the reasons why they love them so much.

After working for national parks for more than 35 years, I still very much enjoy hearing people’s stories as well as recounting my own experiences, many of which form the backdrop to my novels.

I’m excited to bring my series and my passion for our national parks to the Vancouver Island Market, especially to talk about my latest novel, Fat Cats, set right here in our very own Gulf Islands National Park Reserve.

Fat Cats is very much a British Columbia story; a story about the challenges faced by my main character when a cougar shows up on one the park’s islands, an island devastated by an overpopulation of deer that has never had to deal with a four-legged predator … until now.

I hope you’ll come to the market to hear me do a reading from Fat Cats and also visit my booth to chat about my writing and maybe support a local author by buying a book, (or maybe the entire series!).

I look forward to seeing you there.

George Mercer and his wild friend. 😉
